This page actually begins with November 30th and takes you through the 6th of December - Fall color trips to Jindai Botanical Garden, Sourousen-en and Tonogayato Garden in Kokubunji. Click on any thumbnail to begin.

Begin November 30th
On November 30th Kazuya and I went to Jindai Botanical Garden to check out the fall colors. As you look around at what we saw on this day you'll see some photos that are repeats because we spent nearly the whole day there, so one photo is taken early and a 2nd one after the sun angle changed. The 2nd shot in this first row is a good example (11:20 AM). You can see similar photos in Row 6, but taken in late afternoon.

The first shot here is a seed head of a kind of lily. The 2nd and 3rd shots are back at the pond you saw in Row 1, but these were taken at 2:45 PM. The best colors we have ever seen here at this pond were on November 25th, 2006 - if you want see the best shot ever click HERE for a 493 KB PDF file.

End November 30th, Begin December 6th
On December 6th Kazuya and I went to 2 places near our house on bicycle. The first place was Sourousenen. The first shot here is looking through the gate. The 2nd shot is the roof over the gate and the 3rd photo is inside the gardens. Beautiful orange colors!

This is still December 6th, but we are now at a different place - Tonogayato Garden in Kokubunji. We went to this place last year and the colors were actually better last year. If you want to review, I invite you to look at December 2007's photos. The 3rd one in this row exhibits the most exquisite reds.

Here are more Tonogayato Gardens shots. The center shot shows a very interestingly shaped "snow protector" over a pine tree - notice how they used arches for the base support.

And here is the final photo from December 6th at Tonogayato Gardens. In this shot, taken by Kazuya, you can see the entire pine tree with the entire snow protector - this is the same tree as the 2nd photo in the row just above this. A larger size of this image is available for viewing HERE.
