Begin December 23rd |
On December 23rd Kazuya and I went to Jindai Botanical Garden and Jindaiji Shrine. I thought there was a Christmas Tree Display at Jindai Botanical Garden, but they only had one Christmas Tree, and it was pretty sad looking. At Jindaiji Shrine we found the poster for next year - The Year Of The Tiger. The 2nd shot is a shot of the Pampas Grass - getting kind of brownish looking, as is the grass, and there are no people in this photo. I stuck in a September 13th photo here to show you the contrast - very white Pampas Grass seed heads, green lawn grass and lots of people. |

End December 23rd, End December 2008's Photos, Begin 4 Best Photos of 2009 |
Well, the website http://dcresource.com has a series of forums. In the "Photo Gallery" Forum there was a thread asking people to post their SINGLE best photo taken during 2009. I was initially able to sort out these 4 photos for my own consideration. Three of them were taken during our climb of Mt. Asahidake back on August 10th. I guess that just goes to show you how incredible of a day that was! The 4th photo, and the one which I finally selected as the best photo of 2009, was a Fall Color shot taken at Jindai Botanical Garden. The first photo in this row shows some Geum pentapetalum under an early morning sun. You may ask why I didn't use PhotoShop and eliminate the lens reflection in the upper right hand corner - I did, and in my opinion it detracted from the photo, so I discarded that version of this photo. The 2nd photo is a relatively rare Twin-flower (Linnaea borealis) on Mt. Asahidake. |

The first photo in this row - also taken at Mt. Asahidake on August 10th, shows a beautiful reflection in a pond. The final shot, and the one which I selected as my best photo of 2009, is this one taken on November 29th at Jindai Botanical Garden of Fall Colors. |
