Due to both Kazuya and myself having an abundance of work during the month of December, there is only one outing/adventure to be found here this month. Kazuya was not even able to share that adventure with me due to his even having classes on that date. The single outing/adventure I was able to get out for was on the 19th and it was to see "Diamond Fuji" - the day that the sun goes down directly behind Mt. Fuji - as seen from Mt. Takao. I also searched for Frost Flowers on that outing, but there were none to yet be found.  Click on any thumbnail to begin.

Begin December 19th |
The first image in this row is a 2-shot panorama taken from Takao Station. There are still a few (very few) autumn colors showing. The second and third shots were taken at about the elevation of the large shrine on Mt. Takao, a single Red Maple still had some nice colors in it. |

The first image here is another 2-shot panorama. It shows Mt. Fuji from the summit of Mt. Takao at 1:12 PM. The second and third shots show Susuki Grass (Miscanthus sinensis) near I-Ccho-Daira, where I hiked to in search of Frost Flowers. There were not yet any Frost Flowers though, sorry. |

The three shots in this row, all increasingly zoomed to show Mt. Fuji, were shot from I-Ccho-Daira at around 1:53 PM. |

The first shot in this row was also taken from I-Ccho-Daira at 1:54 PM. The second and third shots were again taken from the summit of Mt. Takao, the second one at 2:34 PM and the third one at 3:45 PM. |

These three shots were all taken from the summit of Mt. Takao, the first one at 3:55 PM, the second one also at 3:55 PM and the third one at 3:57 PM. It's getting closer and closer to "Diamond Fuji" time now. |

The first shot in this row shows the crowd of people behind me at 3:59 PM and the second shot shows the people in front of me, also at 3:59 PM. The third shot was also taken at 3:59 PM and you can see that I was having trouble getting photos without heads in them. I cropped several of the next few shots to remove heads! |

The first shot in this row was taken at 4:07 PM, the second shot at 4:08 PM and the third shot at 4:09 PM. In the third shot it appears that the sun is partially behind Mt. Fuji now. |

In these three shots, the first taken at 4:11:14 PM, the second at 4:11:40 PM and the third at 4:11:52, it is quite obvious that the sun is partially eclipsed by Mt. Fuji. The third shot is very close to "Diamond Fuji". |
