The website this month primarily has photos from our spur of the moment trip to Canada to visit the Tombstone Territorial Park in Yukon Territory. The few photos that were taken closer to home are shown in the first four rows on this page. Click on any thumbnail to begin.

Begin June 7th - 25th |
Here are two photos of Spotted Lady Slipper Orchids (Cypripedium guttatum) that we have growing in our yard. |

On June 14th - 15th we took a trip to the BLM Mt. Prindle Campground. We arrived late in the afternoon of the 14th and did our hike on the 15th. |

We decided to hike to a different area than where the trail goes, so here are two shots of the area we hiked in. Shortly after the last photo in this row was taken it began to rain quite heavily and we had to put our cameras away to keep them dry and therefore we have no additional photos from this trip. |

Here are two photos of Kazuya's most amazing flower garden this year. |

The first photo here shows what the skies looked like as we left our house on our way to Canada's Yukon Territory. There were a large number of active forest/wildfires going. The second shot shows a photogenic patch of Foxtail Grass along the highway between Fairbanks and Tok, Alaska. |

Now it is the first full day of our vacation. The first two shots show each of us at the entrance to the BLM's Westfork Campground as we departed on the morning of June 26th. |

We are still driving on the Taylor Highway. Now we are north of Chicken, Alaska and heading for the Canadian Border. There is an area we know that has an abundance of Northern Lady Slipper Orchid (Cypripedium passerinum), so we stopped to see if they were presently in bloom - they were. |

In first position in this row is a 2-shot Panorama looking back at US/Canadian Customs. In second position is the Free Ferry that takes people back and forth across the Yukon to/from Dawson City, and in third position is the Dempster Highway sign. |

Now it's getting later in the day and we have arrived at our destination, or at least the general area. The second and third shots were taken from the Tombstone Mountain Viewpoint at km 72 on the Dempster Highway. The person there is Kazuya. As you can see, it is smoky here too. There are wildfires to the north, south, east, and west now. |

End June 26th, Begin June 27th |
Now it's a new day. This will be our first full day here. We plan to do a climb of what is called the "Goldensides Trail". According to the map at the trailhead, it is a 2.5 kilometer hike one-way, with an elevation gain of about 550 meters. The three shots in this row were all taken in or close to the campground. Please note that the moon is visible in both the second and third shots. |

Okay, from here to the end of the page we are climbing on the Goldensides Trail. The first shot shows a map, the second shot shows a rock near the south summit (on the map) and the third shot shows Kazuya on the eastern summit. |

All three of the photos in this row were taken from the eastern summit (see map). We were told that the reason this is called "Goldensides" is because of what happens here near sunset time, we did not see that seeing as we hiked the trail in the morning. It was amazingly beautiful even without the Goldensides though. |
