On Sunday, May 13th we took a train to Koremasa and hiked along the Tama River. The shots in this first row are all Sisyrinchium atlanticum. This flower seems to come in only 2 colors - white with a purple center and purplish/reddish with a purplish center. The purplish/reddish ones are MUCH less common than the white ones.

On May 20th we climbed Mt. Takao once again (33rd time) and we found a brand new Asarum!! Unfortunately the flowers were way past prime, but the first shot in this row shows a "past prime" flower. The 2nd shot shows the leaves of this Asarum tamaensis and the 3rd shot shows the leaves of Asarum nipponicum, one of the Asarum species which we usually see. We were looking for a different new plant, which we have never seen before, but this is what we found.

On Saturday, May 26 we went to Jindai Botanical Garden Aquatic Area. The only 2 pictures which are worth much are these 2 nice Iris photos. We have never seen an Iris the color of the first photo. Have you?

On Sunday, May 27th we went out to the Upper Tama River at Mitake and found this cute little plant - Saxifraga stolonifera. Actually these 3 images are all the same photo - the first shot is the original, the 2nd one is a crop of the first one and the 3rd one is a tighter crop. This little flower is about 2.5 cm (1 inch) from top to bottom.
