February 19th - 24th Continue from Page 3 |
The first photo in this row shows "The Last Kiss". This sculpture did not place in the One-Person Classic competition. It was carved by an American, Todd Dawson. The second photo here shows "Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee". It competed in the Two-Person Classic and took 21st place, possibly due to the fact that it was not finished when the competitors were required to stop - the wings of the butterfly sit on the ground! It was carved by two Americans, Mark Chapin and Brian "Tator" Edwards.

The final competitive sculpture is shown in the second photo. This is entitled "Forged Affection" and took 19th place in the Two-Person Classic competition. It was carved by two Americans, David "Pablo" Smith and Stephanie Hugel.

These three photos show the decorations which one sees as one walks from the entry gate towards the carving area. These three shots were taken on our first visit to the Ice Park, in the early evening when it was still fairly light out. |

A final shot of the ice posts and then one shot of one of the decorations which was made for the kids. We are kids at heart, so Kazuya stuck his head in it for me. |

Ah, finally we are away from the Ice! These three shots show what we saw when we looked out the window on February 21st. This Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) sat on our porch rail looking around for several moments before flying away. |

Maybe you've been wondering if there would be any shots of Kazuya's Baked Delights this month. The first shot here shows what has recently become a popular item - Japanese White Bread, called Shoku-Pan in Japanese. The second photo is obviously a birthday cake. |
