This page begins with a photo that neither of us took, but which I really love. After that there are some autumn color shots taken right here at home and also on a walk up the road. There are also photos of birds at our "peanut-butter stick" and me with a 9 pound cabbage. The most dramatic photos were taken when we went out on September 26 to harvest lingonberries. There are a couple of shots that show our Full Harvest Moon, a single Aurora Borealis shot, a birthday cake, and a cake for home. Click on any thumbnail to begin.

I call this photo "Kissing Behind a Salmon". The source is the Facebook Page "Mountain Men of Alaska. The painting of it was rendered by DEOIDESIGN.TUMBLR.COM. Note that the guy holding the salmon is giving us the finger through the salmon's jaw. The entire point of posting this photo is to reinforce the thinking that people who love each other, but live in what might be a hostile and non-stop work environment, CAN find a way "Love always finds a way." |

These two shots, taken on our land, show that the autumn colors are showing quite prominently in the understory bushes and shrubs on September 12th. |

Note the difference in how many leaves remain in the trees in these two photos. The first one was shot on September 15th and the second one was taken on June 21st. |

We bought this 9 pound cabbage from Dragonfly Farm at Farmers Market. They grow such sweet cabbage. The second and third shots show Gray Jays (Perisoreus canadensis) on our new peanut-butter stick. |

Now it is two days later and we have taken a trip to the mountains. These shots were taken along US Creek Road, about 60 miles northeast of Fairbanks. Note the frost remaining where it is still shady. The last two shots show the snow in the higher mountains. |

This is what we were after - Lingonberries (Vaccinium vitis-idaea). There was only one very small patch like this, unfortunately. |

This is a 2-Shot panoramic image that shows Table Top Mountain - which we have climbed twice in past years. There are no leaves remaining here. |

On the drive to the lingonberry place we came across this North American Porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum) and Kazuya got several shots of it as it waddled away. The third shot shows our reward for harvesting lingonberries. This was about half as many as we can usually get, it was a poor year for lingonberries, probably due to the hot summer. |

Here are two shots of the September Harvest Moon when it was about 99.8% illuminated. The tree branches appear to be gently holding the moon aloft. |

On September 30th in the morning we had an amazing amount of leaves remaining in the trees for the date, but it was a very breezy day, and by the end of the day there were a lot fewer leaves left in the trees. These three shots all show what the ground looked like in late afternoon. In addition, note how few leaves remain in the trees. |

On the final day of Farmers Market we bought this bouquet of small sunflowers and it is still looking quite good today (October 2nd). The Aurora Borealis photo was taken by Kazuya on September 25th. |
