This page begins with February 1st with a nighttime photo from the porch, then we jump to February 2nd and some shoveling of our roof.  After that we jump around between shots of flowers, food, aurora borealis, and snow.  Click on any thumbnail to begin.

Begin February 1st - 26th |
The first photo in this row was shot the evening of February 1st with a beautiful new layer of snow on top of everything. The second shot was taken while we were shoveling our roof - when the snow is knee deep on the roof it is time to remove some of it. |

This Christmas Cactus is a new one for us, this is the second Christmas we have had it, and it graced us with a single flower this year, though obviously, it has a messed up calendar, ha, ha. |

For the first snow photo here, I stood between the house and the woodshed and shot this photo looking kind of straight up. For the second - a 2-shot panorama - I walked out into the driveway a ways and took a few photos and was able to put two of them together like this. Note that the third image is the same as the center one - it has merely had additional processing. |

We have a falafel shop in town that serves the greatest sandwiches, but it's one of our summer only shops. Kazuya made these falafel balls from scratch (did you know it's made from garbanzo beans/chickpeas?) and then he made a "sandwich" like our local shop does. It was an amazingly delicious dinner. |

We have been fortunate enough to be able to see the aurora several times this winter. These two shots were taken on the Valentine's Day (night) here at our home. They were taken with an iPhone 12-mini on a tripod and were not processed at all except for adding the beveled edge. |

Here is another one from the 14th - no, we did not buy chocolate-covered strawberries. Do they even wash those things before they dip them in the chocolate? Kazuya bought strawberries and made these himself, and he also made the special type of cake - it is Hojicha and other ingredients, |

Here is another 2-shot panorama, this one taken while looking due south from our porch. |

We found some large size packages of Blackcod a.k.a. Sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria), so we bought a package. We had purchased it before, so we knew we would be okay with the flavor. Kazuya served it with sides of Tetsukabuto Squash (from our freezer), broccoli, brown rice, and a salad which included radish coins. It was absolutely delicious. |

The aurora went crazy in Alaska on the night of the 26th - 27th, and photos have been posted all over the place of them - even news articles. Here are some of the ones we shot. These are all straight from the camera, no processing at all has been done to them. |

Here are three additional aurora borealis photos from the night of February 26 - 27. Again, these are straight from the camera. |

If Kazuya ever offers to make you a sandwich, you should probably accept it. This is a typical sandwich for him. Note that he has not been at all stingy with any of the ingredients. |
