Carol had a problem with creating the spiral for the Cornucopia, so in the first photo here, Tom is smoothing it all off so that she can try a different strategy. The second and third shots show Carol working on making a piece of coral.

Things are taking shape here on Day 3. The spiral (Cornucopia) has been completed and glued to the shell and more coral is being made.

Okay, "Cornucopia of the Sea" is completed. Isn't it amazing? And notice that even their stanchions where the entry ropes are tied are sea-themed coral posts.

Here are three additional shots of "Cornucopia of the Sea", by Tom and Carol Lewando. Interestingly enough, they were on Site #13 and they won 13th place (out of 21). Unfortunately, only the first 5 places were awarded ribbons and cash prizes, but Tom and Carol are not in it for fame and glory, they do it because it's just plain fun for them!

These three photos of "Cornucopia of the Sea" all appear pretty much the same, but if you could see them all side by side you would see that there are different aspects to the lighting which came about while processing the photos. The third shot shows the most detail.

Here are the final two photos of "Cornucopia of the Sea". You're probably thinking that there are too many shots of this carving, so please keep in mind that this was done by our friends and we were allowed to watch and ask questions and touch the ice and so on. The only thing we could not do was touch a tool, that would have resulted in Tom and Carol's disqualification.

This one is entitled "Indian Warrior". This was at Site #19 and was carved by Angelito Baban, from the Philippines and Frederick Marquina, a Canadian. It took 5th place in the Two-Person Classic competition. The first and second photos were taken on Day 1 and the third photo was taken on Day 3.

Here are the final two shots of "Indian Warrior" -note the detail of the rope. You should know that the "rope" does NOT have a rope or wire inside of it. We don't know how they accomplished this task.

Here is the beginning stage of "Sparring" on Day 1. The Russian carvers, Vitaliy Lednev and Evgenii Gorbunov told us that this is a Guppy (small fish). I don't understand the title of Sparring, but... The first shot was taken on Day 1 and the second and third shots were taken on Day 3.

Here are three shots of "Sparring" after it was finished and had been awarded 2nd place in the Two-Person Classic competition. In the center shot you can see a crawfish in front of the fish - maybe this is where the title of "Sparring" came from - the guppy is sparring with a crawfish.
