This page begins on September 5th with a morning color photo. After that we'll take you up towards Wickersham Dome, on the Elliott Highway, in search of autumn colors. Following that are a couple of photos of our garden flowers, and those are followed by a trip to harvest Lingonberries. Following that are a few more photos that were taken here at home, and then a trip up the Steese Highway to Twelvemile Summit and Eagle Summit in search of caribou, again. Click on any thumbnail to begin.

Begin September 5th - 9th
As we were drinking our morning coffee we noticed that the morning colors were quite interesting, so I went out and shot this photo looking southeast from our porch.

On September 9th we went for a trip up the Elliott Highway as far as Upper Grapefruit Rocks in search of autumn colors. As you can see, we were successful in our search.

Here are some nice autumn shots that were taken along the first mile or so of the Wickersham Dome Trail. Note that there are two varieties of Reindeer Moss in the first photo. The red leaved plant is some type of Bearberry.

End September 5th - 9th, Begin September 14th - 25th
On September 14th we went out on our annual Lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) harvest. In the center photo note that there are three types of edible berries - Lingonberries, Crowberries, and Alaskan Blueberries.

Now we are back at home. The first shot shows our woodshed after all of the newly harvested wood has been split and stacked. Obviously, the wettest wood is on the far left. The second shot shows our Mountain Ash tree.

End September 14th - 25th, Begin September 28 - 29th
The first shot shows our first frost of 2024. It set a new record for the latest first frost - September 28th. The old record was September 27th. You can see the frost in the first photo. The second shot was taken the next day - we spent the afternoon of the 28th getting the garden spot cleaned up and prepared for winter. The third shot shows that essentially, all of the leaves are gone.

Now we are driving up the Steese Highway. We're headed for Twelvemile Summit and Eagle Summit in search of caribou. Can we be as fortunate as we were back in July? The first photo was taken at Cleary Summit, while the second and third photos were taken at Milepost 80 - Montana Creek. Even though only brown, these autumn colors are attractive.
